Hand Engraving Class – June 20
The Kansas Custom Knifemakers Association will be hosting a beginner-friendly hand engraving class on June 20 at Steve Culver’s shop.

This hands-on class is designed to teach the fundamentals of traditional hammer-and-chisel engraving while keeping the tools and materials affordable and accessible for new makers.
Participants will learn:

Graver sharpening
-
Simple scroll and pattern design
-
Design transfer methods
-
Hammer-and-chisel cutting techniques
Instruction will include hand sharpening a 120° V graver using diamond stones. A power sharpening system will also be available during class to help speed things up when needed.
Students will practice engraving on brass plates and receive guidance throughout the cutting portion of the class, including help with sharpening and tool control.

Each participant will receive a basic engraving starter kit to take home, including:

What to Bring
Participants are encouraged to bring:
